Vacation House Poggiolato

Poggiolato is situated in an enchanting position overlooking the river Pesa in the heart of the Chianti region.
Due to its strategic position high above the valley through which runs an ancient Roman road (Via Cassia) in around 1000a.c. a tower was erected on the site.
It was not until 13tth Century/14th Century with the rich Florentine merchants investing vast amounts in land ownership in the Chianti region that Poggiolato was developed from its initial ‘tower’ to the stately home that it became, being owned by the noble Cavalcanti family. In fact, in 1255 Guido Cavalcanti was born here – he was a famous literary person of the time and had close ties with Dante Alighieri.

First floor apartments (35-45mq) in typical Tuscan style on several split levels suitable for four to five people.
On the ground floor of the apartment there is a living-room (satellite TV) with kitchenette (fridge and gas hobs – no oven) bathroom (with attractive brick shelving built into the wall) and a large bedroom with oak beams

From the A1 motorway exit at Firenze Certosa and make you way onto the ring road (‘raccordo) Firenze-Siena and proceed to exit San Casciano in Val di Pesa.
Head towards the centre (centro) and follow signs for San Pancrazio and then for Saint Cristina.
After 300 mt. turn to the left at the street St. Vito di Sopra and to continue for 2 kms.
