History of Villa Tombolina
The earliest documented evidence of the structure goes back to the 17th century as a medieval "tumba" (estate), which, hundred years later, has been already extended to a magnificent manor with its own private chapel dedicated to Saint Rock, and, additionally, a large farm house with facilities to exploit the sulphur extracted tram the mines nearby.

After countess Geltrude Alavolini the villa often changed its owners who enjoyed the beautiful place mainly as a holiday mansion during the summer season, while mining was continued. Only at the beginning of the 20th century, when sulphur extraction suffered a steadily decline, started the abandon and gradual dilapidation of the building.
After a long, careful renovation now the splendid edifice with its gorgeous park turns back to lite, ready to accommodate new guests with modern conveniences. Thanks to the owner's respect far the building's history, the charming flair of the old villa has been perfectly maintained.
The stylish villa lies in the midst of green hills and overlooks the whole Metauro-valley, tram the Furlo canyon to the city of Fano. Its spacious, well cultivated park and the charming panorama invite to relaxing, recreative walks; sport lovers will find a multi-purpose sports field, a fitness trail and a new out-door swimming pool with all the necessary facilities.

The elegant mansion with period interior harmonically unifies refined architecture with nowadays living conveniences, contrasting old and new elements in a perfect way. Downstairs there is a large kitchen and a very impressive wine cellar, furthermore a comfortable chimney room, a large dining room and a hall far meeting and congresses with up to 100 seats. On the first floor one gets tram the elegant central hall to four suites, two of which have a large panorama terrace, one has a connecting door to the chapel gallery. The main suite offers a still more refined atmosphere with its elaborated vault ceiling and a spacious bath with jacuzzi made out of pink Portuguese marble.

Villa Tombolina - far elevated pretensions, far feeling cosy thanks to cordial hospitality - an ideal location on the peaceful green countryside, but very close to the sea. With a few minutes drive you can reach the harbour town of Fano, within half an hour the steep Conero coast or the well known Romagna sand beaches with a Turbulent night life - a sharp contrast to the quiet country life.
Fans of arts and history are close to the attractive medieval cities of Fano or Mondavio, to Urbino's renaissance palace, Rossini's birth place in Pesare or the Gradara castle. Many of the less known sights in the Metauro valley are of great historical interest and offer a infinite variety of gastronomic, artistically or, also , entertaining events showing us some of their local traditions.

On leaving the toll of FANO on the motorway A14, stay on the right and following the signpost to Rome. Exit at Calcinelli di Saltara (4th exit) and stay on the left to direction M.M. After Villanova stay to the right direction and continue for approximately 1 km until meeting on the left side of the road a gate. Go up the road and you can find Villa Tombolina.
